Red Christmas

The old wooden doors to the barn were butted open by a wary reindeer, with large antlers and a very red nose. There was trouble and he was needed.

He didn't know why, yet. But since a youngling, Rudolph has been curious.
He was so now.

And as the aging reindeer moved cautiously into the white, he turned his head to look back at the shed where his brothhers and sisters still slept, amongst the straw in the large barn.

He almost wished he could ignore his imperative and sleep on, as they did.
But, seemingly Rudoph had a mission to fulfill.

At least, that's what his gut told him.

So, he trotted onward.

And after a small age, he found what he sought; two men working over equipment that drove into the snow and ice.

Although he knew not English, the reindeer rescognized the logo's on the men's apparel.
'Again?' It mused and charged forward.

In the snow, neither man heard his approach and, one hoof took out an eye before either man knew they had company.

Then before either man could react, Rudolph was upon then, impaling the second of the two with his antlers, as the first held his bloody face and screamed piteously.

The reindeer swept his head from side to side, throwing entails in the air and the man before him groaned once in an American accent, gasped and died.

Rudoloph glaced toward the first man, still clutching his face, no longer intent on the drilling equiptment, that they had brought.

The reindeer could not read English; but over the years he had seen that same sign on the jackets of those coming to the North Pole looking for the black fluid, ''oil”' they'd called it.

And he would not have them bothering Santa, so... they'd die, like the others before them.
Rudolph stamped down hard on the man's face and hand, destroying all flesh and bone.

He was tired of Westram and their 'pipeline', wishing they would stop bothering them.
Then feeling tired, Rudolph turned back and trotted slowly to the barn, his stall and straw.
The reindeer was content, it was Christmas Eve tomorrow, Santa was safe.
And, Rudolph could rest for the night, feeling good.
